Neck and Shoulder Pain

With the rise of desk based work from home jobs, neck pain is becoming an increasingly common problem.

Neck pain can be caused by the muscles, joints, ligaments and other structures around the neck and upper shoulders.

It may develop gradually or occur suddenly following an awkward movement, prolonged sedentary posture, injury or from physical or emotional stress.

We often see it as aching, stiffness, restricted movement, or pain around the neck, shoulders, and upper back. In some extreme cases, irritation of a nerve in the neck can cause pain, tingling, numbness or weakness that travels into the arm or hand.

To manage this we would check the movement of the neck, upper back and shoulders, giving advice around contributing factors such as posture, muscle tension, work activities and everyday movement. Treatment may include gentle hands-on techniques, soft-tissue work, advice on posture and activity, and tailored exercises to improve mobility, strength and function.

Shoulder Treatment

As a fellow osteopath I can't recommend Niall enough. He is very knowledgeable in anatomy and will always tailor his treatment plans to match his patients needs. I receive treatment from Niall regularly as I always does me good. I'd highly recommend you consider him if you have any aches or pains.
