Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic technique aimed at enhancing the function of the central nervous system by releasing tension and encouraging the body's natural healing processes. This approach focuses primarily on the cranium (the bones of the skull) and the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine), using light, subtle manipulations to influence these areas and promote overall health.
Practitioners of cranial osteopathy work with the body's inherent rhythmic movements, particularly those of the cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. By addressing imbalances in this fluid flow and the positioning of ligaments and connective tissues, cranial osteopathy seeks to improve neurological function and relieve symptoms of strain or dysfunction. Although it is most commonly used in infants and young children—whose cranial bones have not yet fully fused—it can also be beneficial for adults.
